Reaction Torquemeters

For applications with no (or very little) rotation. A common example is measurement of tightening torque. Imagine gripping each flange on the transducer above and attempting to rotate the flanges. That would exert a twisting action on the transducer, which can be detected and transformed into a torque measurement.

Shaft-style Torquemeters

In this style of torquemeter, the shaft is free to rotate. It may rotate just a few degrees or, more typically, at thousands of rpm! A common application has one of these torquemeters in the shafting between a motor and a pump. The shaft experiences a slight twist when torqued. This twisting action can be detected & transformed into a torque measurement.

Signal Conditioners

Torquemeters sense torque via Strain Gage technology. They need associated Signal Conditioning circuitry to provide the accurate, linear, high-level outputs needed. This amplification circuitry may be provided inside the transducer itself, OR inside a dedicated Amplifier Instrument (as shown). The most basic Model 700 Series instrument is a single channel amplifier, with a display of Torque only. Other models offer a second transducer channel plus a third (computation-only) channel.
